Summer is here ~ So is Angela & show season!

I'm lucky that my daughter Angela comes home to help with the summer show season.
She's an Environmental Engineer major at Penn State ~
Smart, organized and very creative!
We're very proud of her accomplishments and I look forward to our summers together as most of my year is spent solo in the studio. We like most of the same music (Jack Johnson, Adele & Ingrid Michaelson & more)  so we load up the Pandora radio, hum along (sometimes we sing out of key) and get creative.

This must have been a rainy day...
usually the garage door is wide open!

A View from my Studio~

Just thought I'd share one of the amazing views from my studio.  This is out the large garage door, which sadly will soon be closed for winter.  When it's open I see deer and fawn, birds, critters, turkeys, hummingbird moths, butterflies, bees and I can hear my chickens once in a while too.   I rarely hear a car or truck or city noises...unless the Christmas tree trucks are running or the Fedx guy is bringing me a package!  Mostly I hear the birds or my ipod.

I've been working on Christmas ornaments today, with some ^6 porcelain & a very nice brown clay from Standard Clay.  I won the kiln I was hoping for at a great price on ebay and just got the notice it shipped!  So today is a clean up day in honor of the new kiln and a little fun too!

Here are a few of my porcelain ornaments just beginning to dry...tomorrow I'll bisque fire and wait for my new kiln to arrive!  These will are trials of what will hopefully be wonderful tree ornaments! The largest half ball is around 3".  The little  rounds with holes are some trials for new pendants I'm trying to create.

Here's a peek at my metal working station...doming blocks, buffer, torch, brass, copper & silver lot's of hole punches etc. Hoped you like the view..... Next week I'll show you a little more of my space!

Pictures Of My New Show Display

What a terrific turnout at the Danville Arts & Craft Show! It was a beautiful sunny day.  So many happy people and many were gearing up for the holidays already.  Thought you all might like a look at my new fall display.  I whipped the new table covers in oh around 8 hours..(took forever!) The top picture is the front of my display.  The wood rack shows off an overview of my booth.  The second picture is a display of my ceramic designs using bamboo placemats and polished cardboard boxes which double for storage when packing up! The inside picture is  a variety of table displays showing ceramic charms, leather & raku bracelets, buttons and pendants.
The bottom picture is featuring my Glass Image Art.  I have over a 1000 pieces to choose from in my booth in a wide array of materials....Clay/raku, Glass Image Art, Beaded Jewelry and metal work including etching, hammering and stamping.  All my jewelry guests usually can find something they love or would be just right as a gift.  I'm proud of the progress I've made this year.  I finally feel like I'm finding my niche... everyday of work is more like playtime.  I feel very lucky and blessed!

Bead Fest Philadelphia Finds

I spent a great day with my good friend and beader, Luci Bromberg yesterday.  We enjoyed an entire day at the Bead Fest show.  I picked up most of the items I  hoped to find and more...Normal for me at a  buying show.  Small towns around my area, so I tend to buy extra to save on high shipping costs.  I picked up some fun chain, rustic ceramic Indian Beads, wooden beads, assorted leather, multi color glass frit, resin cubes, and swanky pearls.  I also picked up a few tools I needed.  Overall it was a nice show, but I felt some the big jewelry suppliers were missing.  Not much brass, not much in the way of findings...just the basics.  I felt the Wire Fest show was more fulfilling for me.  Don't get me wrong, I'll still go....just wishing for more of a selection. So now to start putting my ideas into cool jewelry!
