Bead Soup Reveal!

My first cup of BEAD SOUP ~
First came the cookbook...so well written by Lori Anderson......Thanks Lori ...you make it look so easy.
You can visit with the other Bead Soup Blog Party participants HERE
Please ENTER TO WIN MY GIVEAWAY see bottom of this post ~

Next came the ingredients by Maria Horvath........
thanks Maria...just the most wonderful ingredients.

A special pendant: an eosin leaf. Eosin is a special kind of pottery made only in Hungary, in my town: Pécs. It's the product of Zsolnay company. You can see the stamp of company at the buttom of the pendant ~

Prep time.....1 month.....I left the box open on my work table to peek at while working in my studio....everytime I went by...I would look...slowly a recipe began  to form....my first concept of a wide cuff with a tree...didn't work out....and then I rearranged to the necklace concept....

A quick addition of spices from my farm.....Bring to a boil and add some creative thoughts....and now....for some thoughts while I breathe in the beautiful aroma of the beads

The wonderful leaf Maria sent reminded me of a poem written by
Oliver Wendell Holmes...the last paragraph has a special place in my heart....I recite it often....I hope you enjoy it as much as I ~

"THE LAST LEAF"
I saw him once before,
As he passed by the door,
And again
The pavement stones resound,
As he totters o'er the ground
With his cane.

They say that in his prime,
Ere the pruning-knife of Time
Cut him down,
Not a better man was found
By the Crier on his round
Through the town.

But now he walks the streets,
And he looks at all he meets
Sad and wan,
And he shakes his feeble head,
That it seems as if he said,
"They are gone!"

The mossy marbles rest
On the lips that he has prest
In their bloom,
And the names he loved to hear
Have been carved for many a year
On the tomb.

My grandmamma has said--
Poor old lady, she is dead
Long ago--
That he had a Roman nose,
And his cheek was like a rose
In the snow;

But now his nose is thin,
And it rests upon his chin
Like a staff,
And a crook is in his back,
And a melancholy crack
In his laugh.

I know it is a sin
For me to sit and grin
At him here;
But the old three-cornered hat,
And the breeches, and all that,
Are so queer!

And if I should live to be
The last leaf upon the tree
In the spring,
Let them smile, as I do now,
At the old forsaken bough
Where I cling.

You can find wonderful pictures and a note from the author here.....http://www.ibiblio.org/eldritch/owh/llpix.html

It's Soup time!

Beautiful iridescent peanut beads, vintage flower beads, hand crocheted copper and brass with  green glass leaves...

On the left copper oval are stampings saying ..."And if I should be"
and the two right  brass leaves  say "the last  leaf upon the tree"

Below are the beads I sent to Maria~
I really loved this new clasp design......just beautiful with the smoky pink and green tones....
can't wait to see what Maria comes up with!

I'd like to share an appetizer ~

I will be giving away this wonderful pair of leaf earrings in one week on Saturday, SEPT 24th

Lovely work, and I enjoyed the poem~!
